Windows 11 taskbar does not support drag and drop, ie. You can't drag a file to an app pinned to the taskbar and expect it to open, like on Windows 10. If this is the workflow you're used to and don't want to give up, there's now an open source app that restores much of that functionality.

Fixed the "drag and drop to taskbar" functionality that was missing in Windows 11.

应用程序为 Windows 11 任务栏添加了拖放支持

Windows11DragAndDropToTaskbarFix is a standalone application that lives in your system tray and works with the new Windows 11 taskbar. It does not change any system registry keys (except auto-start when manually configured) and does not inject any DLLs into other processes, so it is a very portable solution.

This program detects your current left or right mouse click and determines which icon on the taskbar you are hovering over. If the cursor stays in the same area for a defined number of milliseconds - it emulates the Win T hotkey and arrow keys to restore the expected window using a very sophisticated method. It also supports dragging and dropping files to the "Show Desktop" button (lower right corner of the screen). The program supports multiple screens, auto-starts, and has various configuration options.
