MSEdgeRedirect is a replacement for Edge Deflector and has been updated to version 0.6 with some great new features .
MSEdgeRedirect Redirect Windows News, Search, Widgets, Weather, and more to your default browser.
The tool filters and passes command line arguments to the Microsoft Edge process to your default browser instead of hooking into the microsoft-edge: handler. This change was required after Microsoft was unable to take over the microsoft-edge: protocol, preventing Edge Deflector from working properly. MSEdgeRedirect's methods should provide resilience to future changes. However, unlike Edge Deflector, which needs to run continuously in the background, the app can be set to run automatically on startup.
The latest version allows you to rewrite searches that would normally go to Bing or Bing Weather, meaning you can finally use the News and Interests taskbar widgets without worry, and even perform Google searches from Windows Search .
See the full changelog for version 0.6.0.0 below.
The app will still issue security alerts when installed, but so far it seems relatively problem-free.
