Ostensibly accurate renderings of the iPhone 14 Pro offer the most accurate look yet at what the device will look like when it launches later this year.
An iPhone 14 Pro rendering created by Apple concept graphic designer Ian Zelbo highlights a series of specific design changes rumored to be coming to this year’s high-end iPhone model. These renders reflect a variety of legitimate design rumors from reputable sources, including CAD renderings and specific dimensions, leaked schematics, images of accessory production molds, early examples and other information.
The front of the iPhone 14 Pro is believed to feature a centered pill-shaped and circular True Depth camera array in place of a notch around the display and is slimmer bezels, resulting in a noticeably different appearance on the front of the device. There is also said to be a slightly larger display, partially increasing the height of the device.
The most notable change on the back of the device is the larger rear camera array, which houses a new 48MP camera system with a 57% increase in sensor size , and has 8K video recording capabilities. The larger camera platform of the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro is naturally more noticeable compared to the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The rendering also depicts the corners of the iPhone 14 Pro, which have a larger radius and a rounder appearance. Apple may be forced to change the corner radius of the iPhone 14 Pro due to its larger rear camera array.
The rear camera arrays of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max roughly match the corner radius of each device's frame, but when Apple increased the size of the camera arrays of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the two Neither device matches its corners. While the differences between the camera arrays of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max are small, the differences between the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro are significant.
It seems plausible that as sizes increase again this year, the inconsistencies between the curves of the camera platform, the lenses, and the corners of the stainless steel frame itself become too severe on the iPhone 14 Pro , causing Apple to modify the design. The new, larger corner radius still doesn't quite match the rounded corners of the rear camera array platform, but it's significantly closer. This correction has noticeable changes on the front of the device.
The renders also focus on the rumored purple color of the iPhone 14 series, with Prosser confirming a previous report that the iPhone 14 will be headlined by a "unique" purple option. Expected graphite, silver, and gold color options for the "Pro" model are also described.
Renderings of a new Apple Watch set to launch this year show a new design with a flat display, but it’s unclear whether they will be the same as the Apple Watch Series 8 , second-generation Apple Watch SE, or a new Apple Watch “Explorer Edition” with enhanced durability.
