A public preview is coming soon, including the latest Outlook app for Windows 11 and Windows 10.

As part of updating native apps for Windows 11, Microsoft plans to release a new Outlook. The app was built from the ground up and is now being prepared for preview, which will likely be announced during Microsoft's Windows 11 hybrid event.

The project is called "Project Monarch" and this new Outlook has been in development for more than a year. This is a relaunch of the web app that aims to unify all existing Windows email clients such as Mail and Calendar as well as the desktop version of Outlook. With Outlook One, Microsoft wants to help users manage their email across different desktop platforms.

There are many ways to access your work and personal email. You can use Outlook's web app, Outlook desktop, or even Gmail. There are so many mail apps for Windows, and that's because the company has a habit of releasing multiple apps that do the same thing.

On Windows 10 and above we have an app called Mail & Calendar which has Fluent Design but does not support advanced features. If you want to get the most out of your Outlook experience, you need to download the app called Outlook and use a Microsoft 365 account to view your emails.

This can be complicated for new users, and Microsoft decided it was time to unify the Outlook app and create a new iteration of the email client using Project Monarch.

The new app is expected to enter public preview soon, as the leaked installer has been updated to reflect the upcoming public testing program.

Introducing the new Outlook app - Outlook One

So what is One Outlook? This is a new Outlook client based on the web platform, Microsoft plans to consolidate all mail applications into a unified application "One Outlook" to help you manage mail across Windows 10 and Windows 11.

This new One Outlook app was first spotted in a leaked document in May 2021, with screenshots showing a new design similar to the web app.

It will feature rounded corners, WinUI and Microsoft Edge improvements.

As you can see in the GIF above, Outlook One has a new loading animation and is the same as the web version.

The Outlook app is not available yet, but will likely be released to the public in the coming weeks.
