How to use screen lock with Signal on iPhone
This feature has been around for a long time, so it’s not necessary to install the latest version of the app. Depending on which iPhone model you have, you will only be able to use Touch ID or Face ID.
- Opening the Signal app will take you directly to your chat list. Here, click on your profile icon located in the upper left corner of the screen.
- In this menu, select Privacy to access privacy-related settings.
- Scroll down in the Privacy section and you will find the screen lock feature. Use the toggle switch to turn it on and access more options.
- Turning on screen lock will give you access to the screen lock timeout settings, which are set to 15 minutes by default. Click it to change the duration.
- Now, decide how long it takes for the app’s screen lock feature to activate.
- Once you're done, you may also want to turn on a feature called Screen Safety, which basically prevents Signal from showing a preview in the app switcher.
#That’s pretty much all you need to do to completely hide Signal chats, even if your iPhone is unlocked.
While we're focusing on the iOS version of the Signal app, you can also follow the steps above to set up a screen lock on your iPad and unlock it with Face ID or Touch ID, depending on which model you have.
