Just yesterday, we discussed the fact that Microsoft was preparing to bring File Explorer tabs to Windows 11.
The feature was introduced in Dev Channel Insider build 22572 but has not yet been officially announced by the Redmond tech giant.
However, some of the more tech-savvy users stumbled upon it, and some of them even managed to activate it.
We know you're also curious and eager to try this long-awaited feature, so if you're a Dev Channel Insider too, we'll show you how to activate it yourself.
This is not a really difficult process and does not require extensive technical experience to complete, it only takes a few minutes.
Please note that this change is not irreversible and you can deactivate tabs in File Explorer at any time, so don’t worry.
Before we start though, make sure you are a Windows Insider and you are working on the Dev Channel, otherwise, this will not work.
Of course, some of you may really want to revert the changes you made after getting tired of the new tab.
To do this, you simply use the following command:
vivetool delconfig 34370472 2It’s hard to say how long we’ll have to wait for this feature to be fully rolled out, but since it’s already Added to Insider builds, we're guessing it won't be that long.
