OneNote gets the same sleek design as Windows 11

Now, almost a year later, some of the features in that updated app are rolling out to all Office Insiders.

These new design options will make OneNote fit more naturally into the rest of the Windows 11 operating system.

All navigation panes and full-screen modes are also being updated, as well as page lists, section tabs, and notebook drop-down menus.

Please note that the purpose of this overhaul is to make your entire experience more native and seamless so that it all fits together harmoniously.

Needless to say, the Redmond tech company is bringing the already popular mica effect to OneNote’s universal app window, which is also used in Windows 11 themes and desktop wallpapers.

We also have to mention the new unread indicator, which matches the rest of Office applications and makes it easier for users to see pages with unread changes.

But wait, there’s more. The OneNote app will also get an optional simplified ribbon, representing some combination between hiding the ribbon and using the full-height version.

This latest version includes an updated Drawing tab with tools similar to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, especially for users who like to use OneNote for digital ink note-taking.

Ink to shapes, rulers, and other features like inking to text are included in this updated tab, as OneNote also includes support for the Surface Slim Pen 2 and its tactile signals that mimic the feel of paper and pen.

On top of that, Microsoft is working to add ink playback and a new pen focus view to transform OneNote into a pen-first experience.

We are also looking into introducing features such as page sorting, which will allow users to sort pages by date created, date modified, or alphabetically.

The new sharing experience and insert picture feature in the Windows Camera app are now available to testers, with the remaining new changes coming soon.
