What new features does build 22572 bring?

Perhaps we can start with the fact that Microsoft Family is now an inbox app. Starting with this release, the Family Safety features you use on the web and mobile devices are now available on Windows 11.

The Microsoft Family app will only be available as an Inbox app on Windows 11 Home and will be updated through the Microsoft Store.

Remember not long ago when we told you that Microsoft acquired Clickchamp and planned to add it to the latest operating system?

It seems that the software will be added with this Insider build, as the tech giant clearly mentioned in an official blog post that Clickchamp is now an inbox app.

Within Clipchamp, users will reportedly find more unique offerings, such as a library of more than a million royalty-free videos, audio tracks, and images that can be added to videos.

There’s even an Azure-based text-to-speech generator capable of creating voiceovers in over 70 languages.

Clipchamp also connects with OneDrive, which means you can import files and save videos quickly and securely.

Additionally, starting early next week, Microsoft will begin rolling out search updates in Windows 11, highlighting interesting moments in time.

Of course, you can still type to start searching the web for your apps, files, settings, and quick answers.

Search Highlights will present important and interesting moments around the world and in your region, such as holidays, anniversaries, and other educational moments.

Changes and Improvements

[General]

• New print queue with updated Designed to comply with Windows 11 design principles, you can easily identify the print jobs you need, view their status, and manage them. This feature is designed with simplicity in mind, giving you better access to your print jobs. To get started, just click Print and watch the print queue pop up.

• Shift Right-click in File Explorer and the desktop will now open "Show more options" "context menu.

• Narrator natural voice is now available in all English languages.

• WMIC is now available as an optional feature and can be uninstalled via Settings > Apps > Optional Features Or reinstall.

[General]

• Fixed an issue with Enterprise Edition devices skipping the network add screen when first trying through the Setup Experience (OOBE).
• Addressed an issue that caused some Insiders to see bugchecks and CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED errors in previous builds when trying to perform various operations, including logging in, opening Outlook, and accessing network shares in File Explorer. question.

• “Pin to Quick Access” is now available in the command bar when a file in Recent Files in Quick Access is selected.

• Fixed an issue where clicking hyperlinks in RichTextBlocks did not work when executed with touch or pen.
• Resolved an issue where a custom mouse pointer might revert to the default Windows pointer after a reboot.
• Fixed an issue where voice input might display "There is a connection problem" but was not the cause of the error.
• Resolved an issue where voice input may not start after unlocking the PC.
• Fixed a touch keyboard crash that could occur on the login screen when there are multiple accounts on the PC.

• Fixed issue when trying to access Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behavior causes a hang problem.
• Resolved an issue where the font preview under Personalization > Fonts may not be visible when contrast mode is enabled.
• Improved performance when switching between different available views on Apps > Installed apps.
• Uninstalling updates via Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Updates A confirmation message should be displayed before continuing.

[Open window]

• The acrylic area should no longer get stuck on the screen if you press WIN D while interacting with the snapshot layout at the top of the screen.
• Fixed an issue where if you snap a minimized window using snap assist, it might not fill the entire available space.
• Fixed some animation stuttering when using three-finger gestures on the screen.
• Resolved an explorer.exe crash that could occur when you try to use a three-finger gesture on the screen and there are no visible windows on the screen.
• Resolved a potential issue that could affect animation and performance when calling the task view.
• Mitigated a potential issue that caused you to accidentally see an X when trying to rearrange your desktop in Task View under certain circumstances.
• Adjusted logic to help further reduce the amount of sound heard when connecting and disconnecting monitors and docking stations.
• Mitigates a recent issue where a minimized application's window did not launch on the expected monitor when undocked and re-docked.
• The title bar should no longer peek into the secondary monitor when maximizing certain applications.
• Fixed an issue that caused some windows to display an unexpected white rectangle sticking out from underneath, spanning the top of the window.
• Updated with new full screen gripper for edge gestures to use acrylic.

[Narration]

• Fixed an issue that prevented Narrator from correctly reading the Run dialog in scan mode.
• Narrator in scan mode will now correctly read error messages in the error list in Visual Studio.
• Narrator will now read out errors when setting a PIN in device settings (OOBE).
• The pitch range of Narrator's natural voice has been adjusted to provide more levels of control.
• Resolved a potential issue that caused the pitch to remain unchanged when adjusting the Narrator speed to the 0 to 5 and 15 to 20 ranges in Narrator settings.

[Task Manager]

• Improved content visibility when contrast mode is enabled.
• Fixed the issue where critical system processes were unexpectedly displayed as background processes.
• Fixed an issue that caused random lines in the process list to be unexpectedly written in black text when using dark mode.
• Right-clicking on the Task Manager icon in the system tray should now actually display a context menu instead of a blank box.
• Pressing Esc should no longer accidentally close the Task Manager.

Some of the fixes mentioned here in Insider Preview builds from the active development branch may make their way into servicing updates for released versions of Windows 11 that will become generally available on October 5, 2021.

Known issues

[General]

• Users running Windows 10 try to upgrade directly in the Dev Channel Up to build 22563 or later, you may encounter installation failure with error code 0x8007007f. To bypass, join the Beta channel, install the offered Windows 11 build there, and then switch to the Dev channel to receive current Dev channel updates. This issue is understood and will be fixed in an upcoming release.

【Tablet Optimized Taskbar】

• After launching an app or clicking outside the extended taskbar on a 2-in-1 device , the taskbar does not always collapse automatically.
• Some areas of the operating system do not yet track the height of the expanded taskbar on 2-in-1 devices, so you may see overlapping components, such as widgets that overlap the taskbar.

[File Manager]

• Opening the suggested results that appear when you enter a search term in File Explorer's search box may not help effect.
• We're working on fixing issues with icon size, visual bugs, and text clipping in flyouts showing OneDrive storage.

[Widget]

• Sometimes, when pinning from the feed, the pinned widget is placed on top instead of the other pinned widgets underneath the component. If this happens, this will automatically correct within 30 minutes, moving the recently pinned widget to the expected default location. Alternatively, you can log out of the widget board and log back in immediately to resolve the issue.
• After rearranging widgets in the widget board, some users are experiencing incorrect rendering of widgets in the fixed section. If this happens, logging out of the widget board and logging back in immediately should resolve the issue.

[Important]

• The Clock app has not yet updated the Windows focus state when configuring a focus session within the app. This will be addressed in a future app update.

[Narration]

• The narrator’s natural voice sounds garbled, making it impossible to read the text accurately. This happens when doing quick navigation, typing, or changes in pitch. As a workaround, you can switch back to older voices such as Microsoft David, Mark, or Zira.

[Live subtitles]

• Some full-screen apps (such as video players) prevent live subtitles from displaying.
• Certain applications that are located near the top of the screen and are closed before running live captions will relaunch behind the live caption window located at the top. Use the system menu (ALT Spacebar) while the application has focus to move the application's window further down.
• When live subtitles are at the top, the very top of a maximized application (e.g., title bar window management buttons) cannot be reached by touch.

[Task Manager]

• When Task Manager is configured for dark mode, some tooltips do not accurately display preferred visual settings.
