Windows 10 April 2022 更新:新增、改进和修复

The Windows 10 April 2022 Cumulative Update is now available, offering a long list of improvements for everyone. April 2022 Patch Tuesday is actually a big release, and if you haven't installed the optional March 2022 update, there are a lot of noticeable changes.

The Windows 11 April 2022 Update fixes a whopping 119 vulnerabilities (we’re not considering Microsoft Edge). Among the numerous security issues, 47 were "elevation of privilege," another 47 were remote code execution vulnerabilities, and nine were denial of service vulnerabilities.

10 security issues are considered "critical" because they can be exploited to run code remotely on affected devices. In addition to the above issues, the company also fixed 13 information leaks, 3 Spoofing, and 26 issues in Microsoft Edge. According to the official release notes, Microsoft is aware of three zero-day vulnerabilities.

To install the April 2022 Cumulative Update on Windows 10, use the following steps:

  • Open Windows Settings in Windows 10.
  • Click on Update & Security.
  • Click "Windows Update".
  • Select "Check for Updates".
  • Click "Restart Now" to complete the installation.

The April 2022 Update is based on the original version of Windows 10, 2004, and it can be installed on all versions released after v2004. However, the build number is different for all versions. For example, if you are using the November 2021 update, you will receive version 19044.1645. Likewise, if you are using the May 2021 update, you will get Build 19043.1645.

While the build numbers differ, the change log is the same for all Windows 10 versions receiving updates today. That's because the company no longer considers new Windows 10 versions to be major versions since version 2004 was released in May 2020. Windows 10 version 21H2, version 21H1, or 20H2 are built on top of the 2004 version.

Windows 10 April 2022 Cumulative Update:

  2. KB5012596 for version 1607 (build 14393.5066).
  3. KB5012647 for version 1809 (build 17763.2803).
  4. KB5012591 for version 1909 (build 18363.2212).
  5. KB5012599 for v2004, 20H2, v21H1, 21H2 (builds 19042.1645, 19042.1645, 19043.1645 and 19044.1645).

Windows 10 April 2022 Cumulative Update Overview

The Windows 10 Patch Tuesday (April 2022) build comes with some new features, including a new search highlights feature.

Microsoft’s new Search Highlights feature aims to make the Windows Search homepage fun and engaging. As the name suggests, Search Highlights will display content related to your interests, trending topics on Bing, topics of the day, or facts related to the current date.

Search Highlights will display content like Earth Day information relevant to your search, as well as Bing features like Word of the Day. Likewise, you can also access and learn more about Microsoft Rewards offers, according to Microsoft officials.

While the feature may seem more consumer-focused, Microsoft says it can show results relevant to an organization if the user is signed in with a work or school account. When you use a work account, search will show updates and suggested people from your organization, synced or linked files, and more.

Search functionality requires the April Update or newer version of Windows 10, and it's being rolled out in phases, so installing the update isn't enough. An exact release date was not specified in the release notes, but officials said it will happen in the coming weeks.

On the Windows 11 side, this feature has been released as part of KB5012592.

Build 19044.1645 for Windows 10 version 21H2

Windows 10 version 21H2 is getting Build 19044.1645 (KB5012599), which has the following changes:

  • A new way to change the color of the buttons shown in notification toasts. This can help users identify successful and critical scenarios more easily, but it obviously applies to applications that use Windows notifications in the operating system rather than their own implementation.
  • This feature makes notifications more visually compact.
  • You can now expand your app’s first three notifications by default in the Action Center.
  • Fixed a bug where the Group Policy service might stop processing telemetry information for Group Policy registry preferences.
  • Microsoft has fixed an issue that could prevent DNS server query resolution policies from working.
  • Microsoft has fixed an issue that prevents the User Account Control (UAC) dialog box from detecting applications that require this permission.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Android from logging into certain Microsoft applications, such as Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Teams.

Windows 10 version 1909, 20H2 support ends

Microsoft confirmed in the announcement that support for Windows 10 version 1909 and Windows 10 version 20H2 (all versions) will end in May 2022 As the month ends, users are asked to install the new supported version as soon as possible.

End of life ends on May 10, and Microsoft explains that both versions of Windows 10 will still be exposed to potential attacks after the end of service.

"After that time, devices running these versions will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates containing protection against the latest security threats," Microsoft noted in the warning.

If you don't update your devices yourself, Microsoft will begin automatically updating unsupported devices to version 21H2 or later.

Microsoft says this allows your device to be supported and receive monthly updates critical to security and ecosystem health.

Windows 11 remains a top priority for the company, but Microsoft has confirmed that it intends to support the operating system with security patches and updates until October 2025.

April 2022 Updates for Windows 11

As mentioned at the beginning, Patch Tuesday means updates for all supported Microsoft products, and this includes Windows 11 as well.

Microsoft also released the same update for Windows 11, which contains a number of changes, including fixes for an issue that made it difficult for users to switch between Edge and other browsers.

In addition, Microsoft has also enabled a new search interface for users on Windows 11.
