##Windows 11 shows tips on how to use Windows Search

Microsoft continues to experiment with the search experience in Windows 11. It introduces a new way to educate users on how to use Windows Search from the taskbar. For example, it displays a pop-up on the taskbar telling you that pressing the Win S key will bring up the search panel. That's exactly what clicking the icon does.

Microsoft Store Update

The Microsoft Store app will now display offers that your new PC is eligible for, such as free copies/subscriptions of Office, games, or a Game Pass subscription. Go to the "Comes with Devices" section under the library page to check if your system qualifies for the offer. If your computer meets the requirements, the Store app will display a card allowing you to redeem digital rewards through your account.

Cards that appear in store app search results have been optimized. Microsoft says the scrolling and resizing experience is now smoother on low-power devices. These improvements apply to Microsoft Store version 22210.1401.x and later.

Fix in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25236

Close a tab in File Explorer causing File Explorer to crash, Microsoft has fixed the issue. Accessing a hidden icon flyout should no longer create a File Explorer entry for it on the taskbar. Hidden icon popups also resize correctly when you open or close more windows. A bug that caused the volume icon in the system tray to incorrectly report status as muted has been fixed.

Using the Win number keys (for applications pinned to the taskbar) to switch between windows does not cause the taskbar preview to appear blank or freeze. Several taskbar-related bugs affecting Explorer.exe have been patched.

Users with many notifications (in Notification Center) were experiencing Explorer.exe crashes. Microsoft identified the issue as a GDI handle leak related to updating the Notification Center icon and fixed the issue.

A bug that prevented natural voices such as Guy or Jenny from speaking in Narrator has been fixed. When you make changes to an app, Accessibility Services announces the app's pinned and unpinned status in the taskbar. Microsoft has fixed an issue that caused bugchecking for the error SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED to appear in recent builds.

If a UPS is connected to your computer, the battery graph under the System > Power & Batteries section will be hidden. The Invert option in the Settings > Accessibility > Color Filters page should now work properly instead of setting your PC to a grayscale palette. Accessing the properties of an audio input device no longer causes it to incorrectly appear in the list of output devices in the System > Sound section.

New known issues in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25236

Microsoft has added 2 bugs to the list of known issues for Build 25236. The text in the navigation header of the All Apps section of the Start menu is garbled.

Projection mode does not work when switching using the Win P hotkey or quick settings shortcut. Microsoft recommends users use Win K or the Cast icon in the system tray for Miracast or wired displays.

Release notes for Build 25236 are available on the Windows Blog. The search bar in Task Manager is not yet rolled out to users, but you can enable it manually by following the steps described in Martin's article.
