Apple's upcoming AR/VR headset will feature three displays
Apple’s mixed reality headset to launch in 2022 will feature three displays.
The display configuration will include two micro-OLED displays and an AMOLED panel, with Sony providing the micro-OLED display that Apple will use. A micro-OLED display will be the headset's main display, but it's unclear what the AMOLED display will be used for.
Modern VR headsets don’t use AMOLED technology because the pixel density is too low, so Apple may add it for low-resolution peripheral vision.
Sony recently showed off a 4,000-pixel-per-inch 4K display designed for use with VR headsets, and the report suggests Sony could potentially develop such a display specifically for Apple. If Apple is indeed using this Sony technology, the assumed 4000 x 4000 pixel array would suggest the headset would have a display measuring 1.4 inches diagonally.
This advanced display configuration will come at a "hefty price," with the headset costing thousands of dollars, in line with previous reports that put the price around $3,000.
The first iteration of Apple’s AR/VR headset will likely be aimed at professionals and developers, and will be used to expand Apple’s AR/VR ecosystem. There are current rumors that the headset could be launched at this year's WWDC and debut later this year, but it's unclear if it will be ready in time.
The above is the detailed content of Apple's upcoming AR/VR headset will feature three displays. For more information, please follow other related articles on the PHP Chinese website!
