iPhone 14 Horizontal Line

Many people have reported this issue on Reddit and elsewhere. There seems to be a difference in the number and color of the horizontal lines.

“I just got my iPhone 14 Pro Max this past Friday (12/9/22). I noticed that when the phone wakes up, horizontal lines flash across the screen. It does this randomly. , instead of every time the phone wakes up. Sometimes it's just 1 line, sometimes multiple lines."

"I had the same problem. But I noticed that when you watch a video before the screen turns off, this This happens more often. So when you wake it up later, it generates a green line."

"I have a similar problem with my new iPhone 14 pro max. Received it this morning."

"For me, the lines appear once as soon as the Apple logo appears on the screen after I turn on the phone. The lines disappear after 1 second."

"Mine is doing the same thing, It's just a white line on the screen when I wake up the device."

Apple says this is not a hardware failure

The original poster and several others in the Reddit thread have removed their phones. Took to Apple Store for diagnosis and everyone was told there was no hardware fault. Instead, Apple says it's an iOS glitch.

"I took it to Apple and they ran a diagnosis and everything came back normal (green). The technician told me there was nothing wrong with the hardware and that the software had to be done."

"Apple support asked for a DM and they ran a test by getting the serial number [to run a remote test] and confirmed it was not a hardware issue.

" Apple support member said 'We are aware of the issue and it is due to the driver Caused […] This is definitely a software issue and an update is expected soon. ”

So far, there doesn’t seem to be a consistent fix available until Apple releases an iOS update to address the issue. Things people have tried with varying success include:

  • Turn off the Always On Display feature
  • Manually turn off the phone instead of letting it timeout
  • Reset the phone

Some people have suggested that this issue only affects LG models display of an iPhone, not a Samsung one. While some suspect a bug in the iOS 16.2 beta, others have found issues in other versions of iOS 16, so it doesn't appear to be the culprit.
