IIS (Internet Information Services) is a web server software under Windows, which is often used to build ASP.NET websites. However, for an IIS server that wants to install PHP, how to test whether PHP is successfully installed? This article will introduce the detailed testing process.

  1. Install PHP

First, you need to install PHP in the IIS server. There are many ways to complete this step, such as manually downloading the installation package, using Windows WebPI, etc. However, in this article, I will explain how to install PHP when using Windows WebPI.

(1) Open Windows WebPI, search for "PHP", and select the version you want to install. The installation interface is shown in the figure below.

(2) Select “Accept” to agree to the license terms.

(3) Select the components to be installed. You can choose according to your needs.

(4) Select the file storage path.

(5) Check the installation information and click "Install" after confirming it is correct.

(6) After the installation is complete, continue to install the necessary components, including IIS FastCGI Module, IIS Rewrite Module, etc.

  1. Test whether PHP is installed successfully

2.1 Create a PHP test file

In the web directory where PHP is installed (such as C:\inetpub\wwwroot) Create a new file named "test.php" and write the following content:

<?php phpinfo();
?>

2.2 Configure IIS

In order to enable IIS to process PHP files, you need to configure IIS and map the PHP files to the PHP interpreter. The specific operations are as follows:

(1) Open the IIS manager and find the website or application pool.

(2) Select the "Handler Mappings" option.

(3) Select the "Add Module Mapping" option.

(4) In the newly created mapping, fill in the following content:

  • Request path: *.php
  • Mapped to: FastCgiModule
  • Module: FastCgiModule
  • Executable file path: C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\v5.6\php-cgi.exe
  • Name: PHP

2.3 Enable IIS FastCGI extension

In the IIS Manager, find the "FastCGI Settings" option and ensure that "php-cgi.exe" has been added to the list.

2.4 Restart IIS

After completing the above operations, you need to restart the IIS server for the configuration to take effect.

2.5 Test whether PHP is installed successfully

Open the browser, enter the server IP address or host name, add "/test.php", and visit "http://localhost/test.php "That's it. If the PHP configuration information is displayed on the screen, it means that PHP is successfully installed on the IIS server.

  1. Summary

The above steps are the detailed process for testing whether PHP is successfully installed in IIS. Through the above method, you can easily confirm whether the installation and configuration of PHP is successful. At the same time, this is also the basic knowledge you must master when using IIS server.
