'AirPods Pro vs. LinkBuds S: Battle of the Earbuds'

Sony earlier this week launched the WH-1000XM5 headphones that we've already tried out, as well as the LinkBuds S, a set of noise-canceling earbuds similar to the AirPods Pro. In our latest YouTube video, we pit the ‌AirPods Pro‌ against the LinkBuds S to see how Sony's new earbuds measure up.

At $199, the LinkBuds S are $50 cheaper than the AirPods Pro, but it’s worth noting that the AirPods Pro are frequently on sale and can be purchased right now from Amazon for $197. That puts the LinkBuds S and "AirPods Pro" at about the same price, though it's likely the LinkBuds S will also be available at a discount later this year.

Like the ‌AirPods Pro‌, the LinkBuds S have a silicone tip that fits into your ear, allowing you to choose the size that works best. Thanks to a similar design, they're just as comfortable as the ‌AirPods Pro‌.

In terms of sound quality, ‌AirPods Pro‌ and LinkBuds S have a lot in common. The two sound similar, but it's nice that the LinkBuds S offer EQ adjustments via the Sony app, something the "AirPods Pro" don't offer. Out of the box, the ‌AirPods Pro‌ have a better sound profile, but the LinkBuds S can be tweaked to your liking.

The LinkBuds S are bass-heavy at default settings, but it's repairable, so they have a customization advantage over the ‌AirPods Pro‌.

As for noise reduction, “AirPods Pro” is about the same as LinkBuds S. They're both reliable at blocking ambient noise, and it's hard to say whether one is better than the other.
