Function keys on the keyboard usually work in two ways. In addition to meeting multimedia requirements, these F-series keys from F1 to F12 also serve general purposes. Example – The F5 key is used as the refresh button on the browser. Pressing the F5 key should refresh the web page you have open on your browser.

These functions can be toggled by two types of keys.

2. F Lock Key

Normally, all keyboards with composite keys come with this Fn or function key. So, if your keyboard has a Fn key, you can use it like this -
1. All regular function keys work as usual.
#2. If you want to use the alternate command with the Fn key, just press the Fn key to use the alternate key.
Example – To refresh the web page, please press the F5 key.
Otherwise, if you want to stop the song or video playing, you must press theFn F5 keys at the same time.
Note –
1. You can press theFn key, while pressing it, You can use the trackpad on your laptop to scroll up and down the page.
2. There is another thing you can do. Press theFn key and the M, J, K, L, U, I, O, P, /, ; and 0 keys simultaneously to enter the numeric keys .
Using the F Lock KeyThe F Lock key works similarly to the Fn key. If you just press the F lock key, you can access the standard commands. Alternate functions are available when the F lock key is not in use. Like, when the F lock is on, theF5 key on the keyboard will function as a standard (refresh).
When the F lock is closed, theF5 key is used for another purpose, which is to stop playback.
