MySQL is a widely used relational database management system. This article will introduce how to install MySQL through rpm on CentOS system.

  1. Download the MySQL installation package

Select the appropriate version of the MySQL software package to download from the MySQL official website. Here, MySQL Community Server 8.0.25 is taken as an example. The download address is https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/.

According to the number of bits configured in the system (32-bit or 64-bit), select the corresponding compressed package to download. Here we choose the rpm package of CentOS 7 64-bit version.

  1. Install the MySQL software package

After the download is completed, you can use the following command to install the rpm package:

# 安装MySQL服务器
sudo rpm -Uvh mysql-community-server-8.0.25-1.el7.x86_64.rpm

# 安装MySQL客户端
sudo rpm -Uvh mysql-community-client-8.0.25-1.el7.x86_64.rpm

At this point, MySQL has been successful Installed on CentOS system.

  1. Start the MySQL service

After installing MySQL, you need to start the MySQL service through the systemctl command. Use the following command to start the MySQL service:

sudo systemctl start mysqld

In order to automatically start the MySQL service after each system startup, you can run the following command:

sudo systemctl enable mysqld
  1. Set the MySQL administrator password

Before starting the MySQL service, you need to set the password of the MySQL administrator through the following command:

sudo mysql_secure_installation

After execution, you will be asked to enter the initial password. If this is the first installation, the MySQL administrator account does not have a password, just press Enter.

You will then need to enter a new password. Require strong passwords and avoid simple passwords. Please follow the prompts and set a password of at least 8 characters.

Next, you need to answer some security questions:

  • Do you want to remove the anonymous account? Enter y for yes.
  • Do you want to prohibit root remote login? Enter y for forbidden.
  • Delete the test database? Enter y for delete.

After setting up, restart the MySQL service to make the changes take effect:

sudo systemctl restart mysqld

Now, you can enter the MySQL database through the following methods:

Optimizing MySQLBLOB requests can be done through the following strategies: 1. Reduce the frequency of BLOB query, use independent requests or delay loading; 2. Select the appropriate BLOB type (such as TINYBLOB); 3. Separate the BLOB data into separate tables; 4. Compress the BLOB data at the application layer; 5. Index the BLOB metadata. These methods can effectively improve performance by combining monitoring, caching and data sharding in actual applications.
