Microsoft is making it easier for users to connect Bluetooth devices to their Windows 11 PCs, starting with those running build 22563. Users can now connect to Bluetooth devices directly from the Quick Settings panel on the taskbar without having to open the Settings app.

So far, while there is a Bluetooth button in the Quick Settings panel, all it can do is enable or disable Bluetooth connectivity. If you want to connect to a specific device, you have to right-click on the icon and go to the Settings app to find a new device or connect to a known device. The Bluetooth button now behaves like the Wi-Fi button. There is an arrow next to the icon that allows you to view a list of nearby Bluetooth devices and connect to them directly from the panel.

Interestingly, this doesn't appear to be coming in the form of an update you can download. Microsoft just said it has started enabling the feature, so it could be a server configuration change rolling out now. This isn't a common strategy from Microsoft, as most features usually arrive in the form of new versions or app updates, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. It's almost more interesting to think about other features Microsoft might remotely enable, like the new Windows 11 app picker we reported on earlier today.

In addition to the new Bluetooth connectivity panel, Windows 11 build 22563 also includes some interesting new features, including a collapsible taskbar for tablets and new emojis. It's also the first version to be available for ARM64 PCs like the Surface Pro X in a few weeks. If you're coming from a previous version, you'll notice a lot more, including a series of new gestures used to make Windows 11's touchscreens more tablet-friendly. These were added in build 22557, which doesn't work on ARM64 PCs due to a major bug.
