Back in 2012, Microsoft added a feature called Simple Markup that gave you more control over how your documents displayed in Word. However, so far, Microsoft Word for the web has been deprived of these benefits as Simple Markup is only available for Windows and Mac users. But that will change in the coming months.
In a recent blog post, Microsoft announced that it is now rolling out the long-awaited “Simple Markup View” to Word for the web. As mentioned in the blog post, users have been asking Microsoft to add this feature to the Word web client for some time.
When viewing a document that contains tracked changes, many users want the document to be less distracting. If you are one of them, selecting the new Simple Markup View option can help you focus on the document itself. A new markup view option retains only suggestions from peripheral document reviewers, allowing you to focus on the document while still knowing that suggestions exist.
As shown in the picture above, Simple Markup shows the changed location with a red line on the edge. All markers show all edits made and red lines in the margins.
#The way the whole thing works is very simple. Click the Review tab of any Word for the web document. Now, click the arrow to the right of the Marker view button and select the "Margin Marker (Simple Marker) " option from the list .
Microsoft says it will roll out the feature to all web users in the next month or so. The company also seeks user feedback for future improvements. You can submit a comment by clickingHelp > Feedback. Additionally, you need to tag your feedback using #markupview for better visibility.
