"This allows for successful downloads and background installations, and the ability to restart or resume once the device is active and connected," Microsoft noted in a new blog post.

Microsoft revealed that 50% of outdated devices do not meet minimum updated connectivity measurement standards.

If you're having trouble dealing with Windows Updates, you can also follow some tips Microsoft shared last year. According to the company, you have to install Windows on a faster drive (SSD), which can speed up the installation process by six times compared to an HDD.

Also, Microsoft wants you to use a single antivirus or file system filter driver instead of using Windows Defender with 3rd party antivirus software. If you use both security solutions, Windows Update may not work properly.
