Chrome isn't installed on iPad: 3 easy ways to fix it
Browsing the internet has become second nature to most of us, and we currently live in an era where it has become synonymous with almost everything we do.
It is not only a place where we go shopping or get together with family and friends, it has also become a valuable work tool.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began and hybrid working became the new normal, browsers and communication software have become the new link between us and our colleagues.
And, of all our popular browser choices, the vast majority of users decide to use Google’s Chrome.
Now, you don't necessarily need to be running a Microsoft-supported operating system to use Chrome, as the software works fine on other software as well.
That being said, if you're trying to install Chrome on your iPad and for some reason it won't install, you've come to the right place.
Why can’t I install Chrome on my iPad?
There are many reasons why this happens, and we're about to spill the beans. First, you should know that Chrome won’t be compatible with your iPad if your software is out of date.
The minimum iOS/iPadOS system requirement for the Google Chrome app is version 14.0 or higher. Therefore, you won't be able to install Chrome unless your iPad has iPadOS14 or later installed.
You may also be running out of space, which is another fact that may prevent you from completing the installation.
How to install Google Chrome on iPad?
1. Update your iOS to the latest version
Please note that your ability to update any iPad to a newer version of iOS/iPadOS will depend on the iPad model itself and the currently installed iOS Version.
If you want to check your software version, all you have to do is
- visit Settings on your iPad.
- Select General.
- Click the About button.
Now, to update the software on your iPad to the version required to run Chrome, you must do the following:
- Access Settings on your iPad.
- Select General.
- Click the Software Update button.
If your device is compatible with the latest version, you will check here to see if there are available software updates and install them.
2. Clear some space on iPad
- Access Settings on iPad.
- Go to general.
- Click the Save button.
- Scroll to the "Suggestions" section to view tips.
That being said, if you still need more space after using the recommended actions, go ahead and delete the apps and content you don’t need.
3. Consider purchasing a newer version of iPad
As mentioned above, Chrome requires iOS/iPadOS 14.0 or higher to run on iPad. With this in mind, please know that some models will never receive this software version.
For example, the following list contains devices that can run iOS 14.0. However, if you have an Apple gadget that is not on the list, you will not be able to install the OS version or Chrome:
- iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
- iPhone SE (2016)
- iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
- iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPhone XR
- iPhone XS and XS Max
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2020)
- iPhone 12, 12 Max, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max
