HomeCommon ProblemThe February update for Windows 11 is already causing problems.

Microsoft released the first major update to Windows 11 to Insider Program members last week, but you should avoid installing it just yet. Some users have noticed printing issues and overheating due to heavy CPU load after applying version KB5010414; these issues were not present before installing the update. According to BetaNews, Microsoft is aware of the vulnerabilities, but the company is unlikely to release an official fix at this time. One of the main goals of the Insider Program is to identify issues and allow them to be patched before official release. This is expected to happen by the end of February, although Microsoft may choose to implement it in phases. Either way, all Windows 11 machines should be getting the upgrade in the coming weeks. Therefore, most people should avoid getting this buggy version through the Insider Program. The only real exception is if you're particularly annoyed by inaccurate tooltips that appear when hovering over taskbar icons - the KB5010414 update corrects this. With these bugs fixed, the February 2022 update will introduce some exciting new features to Windows 11. These include improved taskbar features such as easier window sharing and mute/unmute options for Microsoft Teams calls, as well as weather integration, with drag-and-drop functionality expected to return later this year. You also get new notepad and media player apps, as well as added time and date for all external displays. The most interesting aspect is the initial public release of the Android app. Currently, this is limited to the Amazon App Store, but third-party solutions such as the Epic Games Store are expected to appear at some point. The Google Play Store may never be officially supported, but there's a workaround that will give you instant access to all your Android apps from your Windows 11 tablet. Another option is Google's Play Games app, which will be available on Windows 10 and 11 later this year. Until then, if you're willing to wait until the final version of the February update is released, it appears to be bringing significant improvements to the Windows 11 experience. As it stands, printing and overheating bugs mean they could do more harm than good.
