Originally called watchGPT, the Apple Watch ChatGPT client jumped to the top of the Apple App Store earlier this month, delivering a smooth AI experience on your wrist. However, the app had to pivot after Apple cracked down on the use of "GPT" in the app's name. The “Petey” AI assistant is now available for Apple Watch, with support for GPT-4, new Quick Tips, and more.
As we covered when it first launched, Petey can interact with OpenAI's ChatGPT using your Apple Watch right on your wrist, and it even includes a complication if you want quick access to your watch face .
The app generated so much interest that it climbed to become the third most popular paid app in the App Store shortly after its release.
One problem, however, is figuring out how to deal with Apple blocking apps and app updates that have "GPT" in their name. Developer Hidde van der Ploeg decided to switch to a new, friendly name "Petey".
Petey 1.2 is now available for Apple Watch and has been updated with support for GPT-4 (paid upgrade), quick replies to Petey’s multiple prompts, new complication icons, and more.
Hidde notes: "If the app doesn't show up on your Apple Watch, install it through the App Store on Apple Watch."
