In case you didn’t know yet, November’s Patch Tuesday update fixed a security vulnerability related to Specter Variant 2 on most AMD processors.

That being said, the next follow-up in December, the last one for 2022, will obviously not be the best on systems with AMD CPUs.

Why? Well, because some users have reported freezing issues on their AMD Ryzen systems. This appears to be happening on Windows 11 22H2 with KB11 update 5021255.

Problems on Windows 11 version 22H2

Let’s be honest, this isn’t the first or last time Microsoft has broken the system with a patch designed to actually improve it.

This has been happening for as long as we can remember, and there’s no doubt the tech giant will always find new ways to undermine itself and us along the way.

Two weeks ago we saw how the same December Patch Tuesday update actually broke Windows Server's network adapters.

Therefore, an error will be thrown when creating a new network adapter or joining a network interface card (NIC) to a virtual machine (VM) network.

Windows community members are now claiming that the freezing issue on their Ryzen 5 4600GE systems is also apparently present in November’s Patch Tuesday (KB5019980).

After installing this update on Windows 11 22H2, PCs with AMD CPUs start completely freezing at random times for a few minutes and then thaw again.

According to the same source, as a temporary workaround, unplugging/inserting the USB device will cause the system to recover again.

Please keep in mind that Windows 11 version 22H2 has been bug-ridden and unstable since it was first released to the public.

So far, Microsoft has not confirmed any issues regarding December Patch Tuesday, but that's understandable since it's a holiday in the United States and many other parts of the world.

All that’s left to do now is wait for the Redmond-based tech company to confirm and come up with an official fix for the issue.

Judging from past experience, this could take days, or even months, if we consider the entire printing nightmare saga.

Hopefully that won’t be the case this time and we’ll soon be free of this embarrassing bug affecting the latest version of Windows 11.

Remember to unplug and plug back the USB device to bypass this annoying error. Are you also affected by it on Windows 11 version 22H2?
