How to set up Face ID with a mask
Setting up Face ID with a mask on the iPhone 13 Pro is a very simple process. You'll need to make sure you're using the latest iOS 15.4 beta to continue, so be sure to check out how to install iOS betas.
- First, navigate to your settings and then go to the Face ID section. Scroll down to the toggle for "Use Face ID with a mask" and flip it.
- Please be sure to remove any face coverings when scanning your phone as it requires removal of the mask. Attempting to scan using a mask will prompt a warning. It also requires that the face it's scanning is the same face that has previously been registered to unlock the phone.
- Rotate your head around the bubble that appears until it tells you that it has registered your face. Once done, you should notice that the "Use Face ID with mask" toggle is now enabled and you can unlock your phone while wearing a mask.
I’m glad Apple introduced this feature to the iPhone, but it feels like it’s a bit too little, too late. Many countries are beginning to lift pandemic-related restrictions, which in some areas include requirements for wearing masks.
