Google Translate officially withdraws from China. Currently, the app has closed access to this region, and users are directed to a normal search bar and advised to bookmark the Hong Kong version of the app.

Usage rate is too low! Google Translate officially withdraws from China (with access methods)

Google stated that this move was because the usage rate of Google Translate in mainland China was too low. At present, Google still provides some accessible functions in China, including Google advertising, developer community, Android developer community, etc., mainly providing support to developers and customers.

According to technology media TechCrunch, this change will affect the document viewer KOReader and the built-in translation function of the Chrome browser.

Outsiders believe that this marks the further withdrawal of the American technology giant from the Chinese market. In 2010, Google announced its withdrawal from mainland China, retaining only two services: translation and maps. Starting from February 2020, Google Maps will cease operations in the mainland.

Of course you can continue to use it by modifying hosts:

1. Open the folder path C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ etc

Copy the above path address, directly open any folder and paste it and press Enter.

2. Drag the above host file to the desktop (direct modification cannot be saved). Do not close the folder, and drag it back later.

3. Select it, right-click-Open Notepad.

4. Go to Webmaster Tools ping.chinaz.com, find the response IP of translate.google.cn, find a domestic address, and compare the response time with TTL short.

5. Open the host file with Notepad, add two lines of content in the format of ip space URL, save and drag it back to the previous C drive folder.
