What should I do if phpcms fails to send email? Solving the problem that Phpcms emails cannot be sent
When the website was placed on the server, a big problem was discovered. What was the problem?
The email service that can be used perfectly locally can no longer be used. This made the editor puzzled and searched frantically for solutions on the Internet, but found that there was no useful one.
In the end, I had no choice but to ask the server provider and found that the fsockopen function was not disabled (this function is a very important function for phpcms to send emails). Finally, I called up the error log of phpcms (phpcms error The log is error_log.php file) (the location of the error log is: root directory/caches/error_log.php). It is found that every time you click to send an email, the error log will have the same error (fsockopen(): unable to connect to smtp.163.com:25 (Connection timed out)).
The original meaning of this sentence is that port 25 of the email address cannot be connected (the email server used by the editor here is 163). In other words, the server prohibits port 25.
The editor is using Alibaba Cloud server here. After discussing with the server vendor, I found that Alibaba Cloud server prohibits port 25 of email by default. To open it, you have to apply for it. It is very troublesome and may not be approved.
The editor then changed to port 465 because the server on port 465 is not banned. However, simply changing the email sending port of the phpcms background to 465 cannot send emails, so how to change it?
It’s actually very simple. Change the line on the mail server to: ssl://smtp.163.com (you can change it to QQ or Sina, but don’t forget the ssl:// in front) ,That'll be fine.
How did it help you? In fact, if you want to send any email on the Alibaba server, you cannot use port 25. If you use it, please change it to 465. By the way, don’t forget that the verification password is the client authorization password. The email setting test is the mailbox that accepts emails. address.
