Will Python3 replace python2?
Compared with Python 2, Python 3 has countless technologies and ultimate User enhancements, but failed to permanently replace Python 2. Most popular packages hosted on the PyPI repository support Python 3 (the library is your first stop for reusable Python code).
Python 3 has now become the default Python interpreter for many Linux distributions. Most recently published books, coding academies, and online courses recommend Python 3 for beginners.
The bad news now is that Python 2, like Windows 7 (or Windows XP), will be with us for many years to come. Many of us will also continue to rely on applications written in Python 2.
Some of us will even continue to use Python 2 for new applications due to internal limitations.
The first and most important thing to know about Python 2 going EOL (End of Life) is this:
Python 2 applications will still run. Don’t think this is a Y2K issue, Python 2 applications won’t all magically stop working on January 1, 2020.
It’s just that the core Python development team will no longer provide any official support for Python 2.
