We need to partially increase the brightness of the character's parts. We can first double-click "Quick Mask" in the left toolbox. Press the Edit Mode button (shortcut key: Q), select "Selected Area", and confirm.
Then, use the brush tool to draw the parts that need to increase or decrease the brightness. (Here, the hardness of the brush should be set smaller. I set it to "0" here. If the value is set too large, the processed (the edges will be very stiff), what I draw here is the character part.

Here, you need to pay attention: when drawing with the brush, you must set the foreground color to black before you can draw After finishing, click the "Edit in Quick Mask Mode" button in the left toolbox again (shortcut key: Q)

Then, click the "Image" menu -------Adjustment------Curve (shortcut key: Ctrl M), and adjust the curve upward.
