HomeWeb Front-endJS TutorialHow to make asynchronous requests via AJAX

#What I will share today is how to make asynchronous requests through AJAX. It has certain reference value and I hope it will be helpful to everyone.

AJAX definition

AJAX is the abbreviation of Asynchronous JavaScript XML, which allows us to directly obtain the latest content on the server through JavaScript without having to reload

page. Make the Web more user-friendly. In fact, AJAX is a set of APIs provided by browsers, which can be called through JavaScript to control requests and responses through code.

HTTP is a request-response protocol, which means that the browser makes a request to the web server, the web server then creates a response that it sends back to the browser, and the browser visually renders that text to user. However, if you only need to update a small portion of the page, you'll need to use AJAX and then use the browser's DOM model to dynamically insert the response into the page.

Four steps of AJAX asynchronous requests

(1) Create an XMLHttpRequest object for the browser

var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();

(2) Create and send the request to Server functions:

xhr.open('GET', './demo.php');

(3) A request occurs through the connection

xhr.send(string);

(4) Specify the four xhr state change event processing functions

xhr.onreadystatechange = function () {
  // 通过 xhr 的 readyState 判断此次请求的响应是否接收完成
  if (this.readyState === 4) {
    // 通过 xhr 的 responseText 获取到响应的响应体
    console.log(this)

readyState Status

0: Indicates that xhr has been created but the open method has not been called.

1: The open() method has been called to establish the connection.

2: The send() method is called, and the status line and response header can be obtained.

3: While the response body is being loaded, the responseText attribute may already contain some data.

4: The response body is loaded and responseText can be used directly.

Example:

var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest()//0状态
xhr.open('GET', 'time.php')//1状态,open方法已经调用了,建立一个与服务端特定端口的连接
xhr.send()
xhr.addEventListener('readystatechange', function () {
})//里面包含了2,3,4三种状态,2分别为接受到了响应头但还没有接受到响应体;
正在下载响应报文;
报文下载下来处理响应体
xhr.onreadystatechange = function () {
  if (this.readyState === 4) {
  }//处理函数

Python and JavaScript: Understanding the Strengths of EachPython and JavaScript: Understanding the Strengths of EachMay 06, 2025 am 12:15 AM

Python and JavaScript each have their own advantages, and the choice depends on project needs and personal preferences. 1. Python is easy to learn, with concise syntax, suitable for data science and back-end development, but has a slow execution speed. 2. JavaScript is everywhere in front-end development and has strong asynchronous programming capabilities. Node.js makes it suitable for full-stack development, but the syntax may be complex and error-prone.

JavaScript Applications: From Front-End to Back-EndJavaScript Applications: From Front-End to Back-EndMay 04, 2025 am 12:12 AM

JavaScript can be used for front-end and back-end development. The front-end enhances the user experience through DOM operations, and the back-end handles server tasks through Node.js. 1. Front-end example: Change the content of the web page text. 2. Backend example: Create a Node.js server.

The power of the JavaScript framework lies in simplifying development, improving user experience and application performance. When choosing a framework, consider: 1. Project size and complexity, 2. Team experience, 3. Ecosystem and community support.

The Relationship Between JavaScript, C , and BrowsersThe Relationship Between JavaScript, C , and BrowsersMay 01, 2025 am 12:06 AM

Introduction I know you may find it strange, what exactly does JavaScript, C and browser have to do? They seem to be unrelated, but in fact, they play a very important role in modern web development. Today we will discuss the close connection between these three. Through this article, you will learn how JavaScript runs in the browser, the role of C in the browser engine, and how they work together to drive rendering and interaction of web pages. We all know the relationship between JavaScript and browser. JavaScript is the core language of front-end development. It runs directly in the browser, making web pages vivid and interesting. Have you ever wondered why JavaScr

Node.js excels at efficient I/O, largely thanks to streams. Streams process data incrementally, avoiding memory overload—ideal for large files, network tasks, and real-time applications. Combining streams with TypeScript's type safety creates a powe

Python vs. JavaScript: Performance and Efficiency ConsiderationsPython vs. JavaScript: Performance and Efficiency ConsiderationsApr 30, 2025 am 12:08 AM

The differences in performance and efficiency between Python and JavaScript are mainly reflected in: 1) As an interpreted language, Python runs slowly but has high development efficiency and is suitable for rapid prototype development; 2) JavaScript is limited to single thread in the browser, but multi-threading and asynchronous I/O can be used to improve performance in Node.js, and both have advantages in actual projects.
