Import SSH key pair

You can use other tools to generate an RSA key pair and import the public key part into Alibaba Cloud. For the encryption methods that the imported key should support, please refer to SSH Key Pair. Key pair.

Note

Please keep the private key part of the key pair properly and do not import the private key to Alibaba Cloud.

Before the import operation, you should already have the key pair generated by other tools. The public key imported to Alibaba Cloud must be Base64 encoded.

Follow the following steps to import the key pair.

Log in to the ECS management console.

On the Key Pair Management page, click Create Key Pair.

Select a region.

On the Create Key Pair page, set the key pair name, select Import an existing key pair, and enter the public key information in Public Key Content.

Note

The specified name should not be the same as the name of the existing key pair, nor should it be the same as the name of the key pair that was still bound to the instance before deletion. Otherwise, the console will The error "Key pair already exists" is reported.

How to import an SSH key pair on the ECS management console

Click OK to start importing the key pair.

After the key pair is successfully imported, you can see the imported key pair information in the key pair list, including key pair name, key pair fingerprint, etc.
