Release Cloud Disk
If you no longer need a certain cloud disk, you can release it after uninstalling it to save costs.
Notes
When releasing a cloud disk individually, you need to pay attention to the following:
Only cloud disks that are in the "pending" state can be released individually. Other cloud disks (such as system disks and annual and monthly subscription cloud disks used as data disks) can only be released together with the instance. If the cloud disk is still in use, please unmount the data disk first.
By default, the automatic snapshot of the cloud disk will be released together with the cloud disk. However, manual snapshots are not affected. You can set automatic snapshots not to be released together with the cloud disk when mounting the cloud disk.
Description
Each cloud disk has 64 snapshot quotas. To ensure that you have enough snapshot quota to successfully complete the periodic automatic snapshot policy, it is recommended that you delete unnecessary manual snapshots and automatic snapshots.
Before releasing, confirm whether the content in the cloud disk is still valid and complete data backup, such as creating a snapshot.
Operation steps
Log in to the ECS management console.
In the left navigation bar, select Storage > Cloud Disk.
Select a region.
Find the cloud disk that needs to be released (the status is Pending Mount), in the Operation column, select More > Release.
In the pop-up dialog box, after confirming the information, click to confirm the release.
