How to convert the public IP assigned to a private network (VPC) type ECS instance to an elastic public IP (EIP)

Convert public IP to elastic public IP

This document describes how to convert the public IP assigned to an ECS instance of the private network (VPC) type to an elastic public IP (EIP) ), so that the public IP address can be retained and can be unbound or bound to the instance at any time.

Constraints

The following restrictions apply to converting the public IP of a VPC-type ECS instance to an EIP:

Only supported A VPC-type ECS instance assigned a public IP address.

Only supports ECS instances of VPC type that are stopped (Stopped) or running (Running). ECS instances of VPC types in other states do not support this operation.

If the VPC type ECS instance has uneffective change configuration tasks, this operation is not supported.

This operation is not supported within 24 hours before the expiration of VPC-type ECS instances.

This operation is not supported for ECS instances of the VPC type that are billed based on fixed bandwidth.

This function only supports converting public IP to EIP and does not support other conversions.

Instructions for use

The conversion process will not affect the public network access of VPC type ECS instances and will not cause network interruptions.

Before and after the conversion, the billing method for public network bandwidth remains unchanged.

After conversion, EIP will be billed separately and a separate bill will be generated. For EIP billing, please refer to Prepaid (yearly and monthly). You can choose to export the consumption records of the Elastic Public IP product through Consumption Records > Usage Records in the Billing Center.

Operation steps

Follow the following steps to convert the public IP of the VPC type ECS instance to an EIP:

Log in ECS management console.

In the left navigation bar, click Instances.

Select a region.

Find the ECS instance whose network type is Private Network and whose IP address needs to be converted. In the Operation column, select More > Convert Public IP to Elastic Public IP.

In the pop-up Convert Public IP to Elastic Public IP dialog box, confirm the information and click OK.

Refresh the instance list.

After the conversion is successful, the original public IP address will be marked as elastic.

How to convert the public IP assigned to a private network (VPC) type ECS instance to an elastic public IP (EIP)

#You can click this IP address to go to the IP management console to view and operate the elastic public IP.

Follow-up operations

After the conversion is successful, you can perform the following operations:

Unbind the EIP and bind other instances , EIP can also be released. For specific operations, please refer to the User Guide of Elastic Public IP.

API Operation

You can use the ConvertNatPublicIpToEip interface to convert public IP to EIP.
