Simple use of filecmp in Python

The filecmp module is used to compare the contents of files and folders. It is a lightweight tool and is very simple to use. The python standard library also provides the difflib module for comparing the contents of files. Regarding the difflib module, let’s listen to the breakdown next time.

filecmp defines two functions for convenient comparison of files and folders:

filecmp.cmp(f1, f2[, shallow]):

Compare two Whether the contents of the files match. Parameters f1 and f2 specify the paths of files to be compared. The optional parameter shallow specifies whether the attributes of the file itself need to be considered when comparing files (file attributes can be obtained through the os.stat function). If the file contents match, the function returns True, otherwise it returns False.

filecmp.cmpfiles(dir1, dir2, common[, shallow]):

Compares whether the specified files in two folders are equal. The parameters dir1 and dir2 specify the folders to be compared, and the parameter common specifies the list of file names to be compared. The function returns a tuple containing 3 list elements, representing matching, mismatching and error file lists respectively. An incorrect file refers to a file that does not exist, or the file is determined to be unreadable, or there is no permission to read the file, or the file cannot be accessed due to other reasons.

The filecmp module defines a dircmp class for comparing folders. By comparing two folders through this class, you can obtain some detailed comparison results (such as a list of files that only exist in folder A). And supports recursive comparison of subfolders.

2.The simple use of filecmp

2.1 The simple use of cmp

Usage:filecmp.cmp(file1,file2), if file1 and file2 are the same, it will return true, otherwise it will return false. This is called comparing the difference of a single file.

2.2 Simple use of cmpfiles

可以看出,lcmp.py 和 vnc.conf 在dir1 和dr2都有,且文件内容相同,而vnc.conf.bak在dir1有,dir没有,故输出,文件匹配:lcmp.py和vnc.conf ,文件不存在:vnc.conf.bak,文件不相同:无

2.2 dircmp的简单使用

语法:dircmp(a,b,[,ignore[,hide]]) 其中a,b是文件名,ignore是可以忽略的列表,hide代表隐藏列表,dircmp可以获得目录比较详细的信息,同时还支持递归。

dircmp提供了三个输出方法:

report() 比较当前指定目录中的内容

report_full_closure() 递归比较所有指定文件的内容

2.2.1 模拟环境

其中,sysconfig 是一个目录 hosts ld.so.conf都是文件,hosts内容不一致 sysconfig中的文件也不一样

由上面的结果,我们可以看出,report只能比对脚本的首层目录,而无法对子文件夹下的目录进行匹配

需求:1.备份etc 文件夹下所有的内容,并且保持实时备份,如果有新的文件,则copy至备份文件中,如果有新的,则update

只在左边出现的文件

返回不能匹配额文件
