A few days ago, I wrote this article!
Originally, I wanted to provide some help to friends who have just come into contact with PHP and are using WIN9X/NT,
Do your little bit to help them establish a small debugging environment as soon as possible.
But I didn’t expect that my level was too low and my articles were not comprehensive enough, which caused many friends to fall into trouble
In trouble.
Many people have asked me why such an error occurs?
Syntax error on line 4 of C:/apache/conf/mod_php4.conf:
Cannot load C:/apache/modules/mod_php4 into server:
There are mainly the following reasons
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. The readme.txt file attached to mod_php4-4.0.1-pl2.zip explains it very clearly
First, add your PHP4 directory path to your PATH. Is it necessary
What’s more? If you copy the file php4ts.dll to
Under the c:windowssystem directory, this step can be omitted. Otherwise
The error mentioned above will occur.
Many friends have neither added the path to PATH nor copied php4ts.dll
File to the %SYSTEM% directory. So the above error occurred.
Someone may ask, add the path to PATH? How to add it? I'm in phpinfo()
That is, the value of PATH is seen in the PHP4 configuration file, only c:windows;
c:windowssystem;c:mysqlbin;c:apache
There is no setting option for this PATH in httpd.conf!
It’s very simple here, you just need to add
to autoexec.bat PATH=%PATH%;c:php4;c:mysqlbin;c:apache;
That's it. Restart the computer, open the php4 configuration file and take a look! Isn’t it
Are you inside?
Because I considered that when installing PHP4 in CGI mode, everyone must have installed php4ts.dll
It has been copied to %system%, so it is not mentioned. This has caused inconvenience to everyone, so please forgive me!
2. This is the file mod_php4.dll. I don’t know how strong your concept of updating is.
Anyway, I am using the latest version...
What I want to remind you here is that the version of mod_php4.dll file is different from your PHP4
If not, the above error will also occur. You copy the mod_php4.dll file of different versions
Going to modules means doing nothing!
3. You didn’t copy mod_php4.dll to the modules directory at all, although this seems a bit
Stupid, but please don’t be overconfident. No matter how smart you are, you will get confused sometimes. It’s better to go to modules
Take a look below! Be at ease!!
This is the answer to this question. I believe there are other reasons. If I find it, I will tell everyone.
Some friends asked me why after PHP4 was installed as an APACHE module, the startup speed of apache decreased
Slowed down!
This does not conflict with what I said in the article. What I meant in the article is the execution efficiency of PHP files,
Rather than the speed of APACHE.
PHP4 is installed as a module of APACHE. When APACHE starts, the mod_php4.dll file must be loaded.
The startup speed will definitely be slow!!
The startup speed of APACHE should also be related to the PHP_*.DLL file. Open PHP.INI and delete all the files you don’t want
Comment out all required php4_***.dll files!
;extension=php4_*.dll
This will speed up startup!
Because these files also need to be loaded when it starts.
Someone also asked me why PHP4 conflicts with the software on the machine after it is installed as an APACHE module.
For example, you cannot perform Windows search operations or use editplus. Oh my god, what a sin!
I really can’t figure out the reason for this. You’d better kill the virus first!
