The same thing as ASP and PHP are server-side scripts. Compared with ASP, PHP is easier to use. PHP is safer and more suitable for development. aSP and PHP
Here we teach www.111cn.cn two ways to program dynamic web pages: ASP and PHP. Which one is correct? Which learning opportunity should you spend your precious time and resources on? This lesson will talk about the benefits and drawbacks of both technologies and try to give you the direction you need to choose one technology over the other.
PHP: PHP Hypertext Protocol
PHP has become a mature and dynamic server-side programming language over the past few years. As of this writing PHP 5.x is the current release and millions of pages are on PHP (we are in Tizag). PHP is a free technology that you can download for many different operating systems (see our PHP installation lesson for information on how to install PHP).
Compared to ASP, PHP is very easy to pick up and takes a little time to learn. PHP is an ideal language for weekend or amateur programmers. It seems like all greener pastures land in PHP.
But there are many reasons why businesses don't easily embrace PHP. A large number of companies are running operating systems such as Windows Server 2003 or Window Nutrients, which are optimized to run Microsoft's proprietary language ASP.
Companies are generally reluctant to exchange technology when they already have a history with a technology. This shift requires retraining or retraining even most of their staff.
ASP Technology: Active Server Pages
ASP technology is a technology that is included in Internet Information Services (IIS), which is included in Windows 2003, ITS and XP Professional. If you own XP Home Edition then you will need to pay $200 to upgrade to XP Professional Edition before you can start your ASP programming career.
As far as programming languages go, ASP is definitely not as simple as PHP. The language has too many confusing programming patterns that will take a while to learn. In addition to this difficulty, there is much less free information on the Internet, preventing you from getting a high-quality education from a programmer on a weekend and for no money.
On the other hand, ASP and ASP.NET are widely used in the business world. If you are looking to get a higher paying job, ASP or ASP.NET would be a good place to start improving yourself with the best employers.
It's not that you can't get a job with PHP, because you can, but you want to have an easier time out if ASP is your path. A search on Monster.com for ASPs with PHPs near a major city resulted in 47 PHP job opportunities and 321 job opportunities for ASPs.
ASP vs. PHP: Conclusion
Are you looking for a job and have the time and resources to learn a fairly difficult technology? Understand ASP technology. Planning on spending your free time working on more hobbies than a career? PHP will treat you just fine. There are many exceptions to these conclusions because they suggest more than anything else. Hopefully this will let you decide yes
