HomeBackend DevelopmentPHP TutorialComparison of JSP and ASP.PHP_PHP Tutorial

Currently, the three most commonly used dynamic web page languages are: ASP (Active Server Pages), PHP (HyperText Preprocessor) and JSP (Java Server Pages).

Both JSP and ASP are programs that can be embedded in HTML, but they are fundamentally different.

(1) Support for WEB server

Most common WEB servers, such as Apache, Netscape, and Microsoft IIS, support JSP pages. Only Microsoft's own Microsoft IIS and Personal Web Server support ASP.

(2) Platform support

JSP is platform independent, as long as the platform that general Java programs can run supports JSP programs. The Windows platform can support ASP well, but ASP's dependence on the Win32-based model makes it difficult to port to other platforms.

(3) Component model

JSP is built on reusable and cross-platform components, while ASP uses a COM component model based on Win32.

(4) Scripting language

JSP can use Java programming language or JavaScript as the scripting language, while ASP uses VBScript or Jscript as the scripting language.

(5) Security

JSP uses the Java security model, while ASP uses the Windows NT security architecture.

(6) Connection with Access database

JSP uses JDBC to establish a connection with the Access database, while ASP uses Data Active Object

(7) User-customized tags

JSP can be expanded using a custom tag library, but there is no user-customized tag library in ASP and cannot be expanded.

(8) Efficiency

In the database test, JSP and ASP executed 1000 Insert Update Delete in Oracle8 respectively. JSP takes 13 seconds, while ASP takes 73 seconds.

Comparison between JSP and PHP

Both JSP and PHP are languages that can be used across platforms and can be executed normally on Windows, UNIX and Linux web servers. They also support general WEB servers such as IIS and Apache. Users do not need to change the code when changing platforms and can use it immediately, but there is an essential difference between the two.

(1) Scope of application

JSP is suitable for large-scale e-commerce sites. It can obtain scale support through SUN Java's Java Class and EJB, and obtain structural support through EJB/CORBA and Application Servers of many manufacturers. PHP lacks scale support and multi-layer structure support, and The provided database interface support is not uniform, making it more suitable for some small commercial sites.

(2) Database access

JSP connects to the database through JDBC technology. If a specific database does not have a JDBC driver and only has an ODBC driver, Java can provide a JDBC-ODBC bridge to convert JDBC to ODBC calls. PHP can be compiled to connect to multiple databases. function, it is perfectly combined with MySQL, and developers can write peripheral functions to access the database indirectly. However, the database interface support they provide is different from each other, such as the interfaces with Oracle, MySQL and Sysbase.

(3) Efficiency

In the database test, JSP and ASP executed 1000 Insert Update Delete in Oracle8 respectively. JSP takes 13 seconds, while PHP takes 69 seconds.

Among the three, JSP will be the future development trend. Some of the world's largest e-commerce solution providers use JSP/Servlet. The more famous ones are: IBM's E-business, the core of which is the server WebSphere using JSP/Servlet.

Explain how load balancing affects session management and how to address it.Explain how load balancing affects session management and how to address it.Apr 29, 2025 am 12:42 AM

Load balancing affects session management, but can be resolved with session replication, session stickiness, and centralized session storage. 1. Session Replication Copy session data between servers. 2. Session stickiness directs user requests to the same server. 3. Centralized session storage uses independent servers such as Redis to store session data to ensure data sharing.

Are there any alternatives to PHP sessions? Are there any alternatives to PHP sessions?Apr 29, 2025 am 12:36 AM

Alternatives to PHP sessions include Cookies, Token-based Authentication, Database-based Sessions, and Redis/Memcached. 1.Cookies manage sessions by storing data on the client, which is simple but low in security. 2.Token-based Authentication uses tokens to verify users, which is highly secure but requires additional logic. 3.Database-basedSessions stores data in the database, which has good scalability but may affect performance. 4. Redis/Memcached uses distributed cache to improve performance and scalability, but requires additional matching

mPDF

mPDF

mPDF is a PHP library that can generate PDF files from UTF-8 encoded HTML. The original author, Ian Back, wrote mPDF to output PDF files "on the fly" from his website and handle different languages. It is slower than original scripts like HTML2FPDF and produces larger files when using Unicode fonts, but supports CSS styles etc. and has a lot of enhancements. Supports almost all languages, including RTL (Arabic and Hebrew) and CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean). Supports nested block-level elements (such as P, DIV),
