Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has put forward a bold vision for the future of the network.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson sets an ambitious goal for the future of the network to surpass the total value lockdown (TVL) of Ethereum and Solana. In an interview with Etoro market analyst Sam North, Hoskinson shared his vision of integrating Cardano even deeper into the Bitcoin and XRP Ledger networks.

Hoskinson said his recommendations are designed to address key limitations in both ecosystems while driving Cardano’s long-term value through practical cross-chain solutions. Despite Ripple's strong ecosystem and financial support, XRP Ledger lacks powerful smart contract capabilities, which in turn limits the development of decentralized applications (DAPPS) and financial products that can be built on the network.

To solve this problem, Hoskinson recommends adding a compute layer on top of XRPL. This addition will enable the use of real-world assets (RWA) and promote integration with traditional banking infrastructure, effectively enhancing the technical capabilities of XRPL. This computing layer can introduce smart contract functionality into the network in a scalable way.

Similarly, he mentioned plans to work for the privacy infrastructure of the Bitcoin network through Cardano's upcoming privacy-centric blockchain (midnight). This will create avenues for BTC and XRP to interact with Cardano's extended ecosystem, potentially increasing Cardano's network usage and financial activity.

This integration strategy will play a key role in extending Cardano's TVL. By developing solutions that are beneficial to all three networks, especially when integrating BTC and XRP into midnight, Hoskinson predicts Cardano’s TVL can grow to four times the combined level of Ethereum and Solana.

Currently, Ethereum and Solana's TVL totaled $72 billion, according to Defilama. By comparison, Cardano currently handles $393 million in lockdown value. Achieving Hoskinson's goal would require Cardano's TVL to grow by 73,000% to about $28.8 billion.

Although this growth may seem extraordinary, Hoskinson asserts that it will be achievable in the next five years, provided that cross-chain integration is carried out and the demand for users of decentralized financial services continues to increase.

The goal is to create a win-win scenario where all three networks benefit from collaboration, ultimately leading to the adoption and practicality of a wider blockchain ecosystem.
