In a video shared on his YouTube channel on May 8, Kamiya responded to fan inquiries about remakes and sequels. When questioned about his approach to a DMC remake, he stated, "I would be keen on undertaking such a project."

The Genesis of Devil May Cry in 2001

Originally conceived as Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry underwent significant changes from its initial concept, leading Capcom to launch it as DMC in 2001.

Reflecting on its creation nearly 25 years later, Kamiya revealed that the game was born out of a personal heartbreak. He shared that in 2000, after being deeply affected by a breakup, he channeled his emotions into the creation of DMC.

Kamiya mentioned that he typically does not revisit his games post-launch, and DMC is no different. Yet, when he occasionally views gameplay clips, he recognizes the game's age and its dated design elements. At present, Kamiya isn't actively planning the project, as he only develops ideas when a project is confirmed. However, he has requested Capcom to entrust him with the project should it materialize, stating, "But if the opportunity arises— I’ll devise something. That’s my approach."
