Oblivion Remastered: The Crimson Cave Quest Walkthrough

In The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, you'll work with numerous people to make the land of Cyrodiil a better place. However, you can also choose to wreak havoc across the land and further the plots of the Daedra worshippers in Tamriel. You won't always know exactly what you're doing until you're in the middle of it.

However, in the case of the Crimson Cave, it's quite clear that you're pursuing a dangerous cult. We'll help you locate the necessary notes and sleeper agent so you can find the cave and complete your initiation–unless you'd rather destroy them from within instead.

Where To Find The Burning Trail Notes

Before you find the Crimson Cave, you'll come across the Burning Trail quest. In this, you'll need to follow a secretive trail of notes across Cyrodiil to find a mysterious Mythic Dawn agent.

There are four Mythic Dawn Pamphlets to find, and they can be found in the following places:

Once you find the notes, head to the Lonely Suitor Lodge and talk to the innkeeper about locating a shy Dunmer. He points you to Ranaline who lives not far from the Lady Luck statue.

Talk with her to get a set of Mythic Dawn Robes, a Mythic Dawn hood, and directions to the pyre.

Should You Light The Pyre?

Backtrack to Hircine's Shrine and venture south to find Mingo Cave. Make sure to equip the Mythic Dawn attire before entering, otherwise the cultists will turn hostile and immediately attack.

Inside, the typical cave layout has been converted into a Mythic Dawn hideout. Chat with the cultists if you want, but make your way deeper to find an Imperial Guard in a cage, with two cult leaders and a Dremora standing by.

Speak with the Dremora, known as Mehrune's Harbinger, to learn that the honor of lighting the pyre is yours for the taking. You need only interact with the cage to do so and incinerate the guard.

How To Get Cataclysm Armor And Weapons

After summoning your new Dremora friend, you can request weapons and armor from the Cataclysm set. They are beyond mortal capabilities to craft, so you'll need to speak with her to get upgraded sets as you level. You can request the following items from her at will:

To get the matching Cataclysm Horse Armor, speak with Snak gra-Bura outside the Imperial City in the stables to outfit them. How she knows the way to craft it, we don't know, but the armor is sleek and Daedric.
