Build Redis Master-slave Replication on CentOS system, the steps are as follows:

Step 1: Install Redis

First, install Redis on the master and slave servers. Use the following command:

sudo yum install epel-release
sudo yum install redis

Step 2: Configure the main server

Edit the Redis configuration file /etc/redis.conf of the main server:

sudo vi /etc/redis.conf

Modify the following parameters:

 • bind : Set the IP address of the main server.
 • port : Redis port (default is 6379).
 • requirepass : Set the master server password.

For example:

bind 192.168.1.100 port 6379 requirepass your_master_password

Save and restart Redis service:

sudo systemctl restart redis

Step 3: Configure the server

Edit the Redis configuration file from the server /etc/redis.conf :

sudo vi /etc/redis.conf

Modify the following parameters:

 • slaveof : Specify the IP address and port of the primary server.
 • masterauth : Set the master server password (if already set).

For example:

slaveof 192.168.1.100 6379 masterauth your_master_password

Save and restart Redis service:

sudo systemctl restart redis

Step 4: Verify the configuration

Verify the configuration using redis-cli :

On the main server:

redis-cli -h 192.168.1.100 -p 6379 -a your_master_password

On the server:

redis-cli -h 192.168.1.101 -p 6379 -a your_master_password

Set key-value pairs on the master server:

set mykey "Hello, Master!"

Get key-value pairs from the server:

get mykey

If the slave server returns "Hello, Master!", the master-slave replication configuration is successful.

Step 5: Monitoring and Logging

To ensure stability, it is recommended to monitor Redis performance and logs. Use the info replication command to view the replication status:

redis-cli info replication

Check Redis log file /var/log/redis/redis.log regularly to find potential problems.

Complete the above steps to successfully configure Redis master-slave replication on CentOS. Remember to replace 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101 with your actual IP address and your_master_password with your actual password.
