'Future Boy Conan' Is Getting A Streaming Release On RetroCrush

RetroCrush will stream Future Boy Conan starting April 18th. Paid subscribers gain early access, while a free, ad-supported version launches April 20th, 22nd, and 27th.

Considered a masterpiece by many, Hayao Miyazaki's Future Boy Conan (loosely based on Alexander Key's The Incredible Tide) depicts a post-apocalyptic world grappling with the remnants of a global war. Conan and his friend Lana may be humanity's only hope against a potential second cataclysm, as survivors seek to exploit the technology that caused the first war.

The anime's influence is undeniable, inspiring numerous directors and writers, including Yoshiyuki Tomino (who also worked on Conan) and Shinji Aramaki. Even recent works like Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken showcase its lasting impact.

The wide streaming availability of this classic is a welcome addition. A Blu-ray release from GKIDS is also available for $40.98 (review here).
