"The First Descendant" beginner's guide: Quick start skills and advanced guide
"The First Descendant" (TFD) is a free MMO scavenging shooter game where players will fight against the invading Vulgus aliens. The game is set in the fictional world of Ingris, with a vast map and rich combat mechanisms, and the content is constantly updated, which is worth a try. This article will provide some practical tips for beginner players to help you get started quickly.
Choose the right role
There are currently 20 unlockable characters in the game (including new characters added in season 1 and 2). In the beginner stage, you will be able to choose three characters: Viessa, Lepic and Ajax.
- Lepic: Good at throwing high-damage grenades, passive skills can improve survivability when you are low in health.
- Ajax: Both offense and defense can be used to create shields to resist damage and knock back or stun enemies.
- Viessa: Good at range damage and debuffs, weakening enemies.
Newbie players are advised to prioritize Ajax or Lepic, unless you team up with friends, Viessa's debuff skills will have a better advantage.
Understand the game HUD
Game HUD is rich in information:
- The upper left corner shows the minimap and current mission target.
- The enemy's red blood bar shows health, and the white blood bar shows shield value. Scan the enemy to see their weaknesses, and targeted attacks can deal maximum damage.
- The four main attributes and corresponding keys are displayed in the center of the bottom. Below is a special resource bar.
- The current weapon is displayed in the lower right corner, and the weapon being used is highlighted.
Make good use of weapons modification
Installing modifications for weapons can significantly improve combat effectiveness, which novices often ignore.
You can select three weapons at the same time and enter the modification menu to select the appropriate modification. When you are not sure how to choose, you can choose the game's recommended modification (on the right side of the screen).
In the early stages, focus on increasing weapon DPS (damage per second) and maximizing damage per bullet and per magazine. Later, modifying is selected for specific enemy weaknesses.
Upgrade equipment
Equipment consists of reactors and components:
- The reactor improves character skills and state effects.
- Components enhance non-inheritor modification attributes.
The reactor has "best condition" and can be activated with specific types of weapons, greatly increasing damage. This should be paid attention to when selecting equipment and weapons. Components usually improve defense attributes and select components that match the character's skills.
Skill upgrade
While upgrading weapons and equipment, you must also upgrade your character skills. As the game progresses, your proficiency level increases, unlocking more skills.
Collect resources
Upgrading equipment requires sufficient resources, and dismantling equipment is an effective way to obtain resources. Compared to sales, dismantling can obtain the raw materials needed for upgrades, while game coins can be easily obtained through natural game progress.
Dismantle the weapons in the Inventory tab of the pause menu and go to Albion's Magister Anais to use the collected resources to create weapons.
Make good use of picture books
The illustration is a complete database of all the equipment in the game, showing the required materials and tasks. Click on a specific equipment to view "Get Information" to learn how to obtain it.
