How to run only a single test file using Pytest?

This article describes how to use pytest to run only a single test file, such as test/test_broker.py . Many beginners will mistakenly try to use filenames as arguments, such as pytest test/test_brocker.py , but this usually doesn't work. pytest's command line parameter resolution mechanism does not directly support this method.

pytest -m test.test_amqp is also not suitable for running a specified file, it runs test cases marked test_amqp .

The correct way is to specify the full path to the test file directly on the command line:

 pytest test/test_broker.py

Make sure that test/test_broker.py file exists in your project directory and that the file name is spelled correctly ( test_brocker.py is spelled incorrectly in the example). If the path is correct but still doesn't work, check if there are problems with your pytest configuration file and test file itself.
