New Species Through Selective Breeding

Your initial task is to revitalize the depleted frog population. Mudborne boasts 29 unique frog species, many requiring careful breeding.

Begin with the Common Green frog (found near the Carpenter's Shop) and the Dozy Dreamer (reddish, white-eyed frog in the dream world). These are your base frogs for breeding.

Beyond these two, create new species through selective breeding. Place bred frogs on different maps to add color. Stock up on frogspawn eggs early, as they're crucial for trait manipulation.

Magic mud, created by combining three mushrooms, alters egg traits. The resulting tadpoles grow into frogs with modified traits.

Each frog's traits (1-7 for each A.N.O.U.R.E.S. stat) are modified from its base. Breeding for specific traits may require multiple generations. Precise traits are needed to access Reflection Pools and the Gateway Nexus.

Later, advanced equipment allows for stronger magic muds. Use the predictor to preview trait changes based on mushroom combinations, and the proginator to trace lineage. Specific lineages are sometimes required for Reflection Pools.
