In Mudborne, traversing between the waking and dream worlds is crucial for finding missing frogs and completing your quest. This involves strategically using reflection pools, which act as portals between realms.
Unlocking these pools requires frogs with specific genetic codes (A.N.O.U.R.E.S.). Each pool's location in the dream world mirrors its location in the waking world, aiding navigation.
Early in your Mudborne adventure, you'll encounter frog-shaped pools—large stone structures scattered across the map. Many areas initially remain inaccessible due to locked doors, unreachable chests, and impassable terrain. This is where the dream world comes into play.
The dream world map is subtly different, offering unique resources and access to blocked paths and hidden keys found in the waking world. To access the dream world, use a reflection pool. Your frog will teleport to the corresponding pool in the alternate realm. While the map layouts are similar, the pools provide access to otherwise unreachable areas, allowing you to solve puzzles by switching between worlds.
Initially, reflection pools are locked. Unlocking requires a frog with the correct A.N.O.U.R.E.S. code. Your frog breeding efforts, utilizing magic mud to modify frog stats, are key here. Each pool demands a specific frog.
To identify the required A.N.O.U.R.E.S., examine the pool statue; the code will appear in the bottom-right corner of your screen. Equip a frog with the matching code to unlock the pool. Nearby mushroom signs offer clues on creating the necessary frogs using magic mud.
Once unlocked, reflection pools remain open, eliminating the need for repeated frog deployments.
