Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition allows you to customize your character, but the in-game preview doesn't always accurately reflect their appearance in the world. Fortunately, you can revisit the character creator, but only after completing specific story quests.
To unlock the ability to change your appearance, you must complete two quests:
You can't adjust your character's look until you've finished these two quests. Both are part of the main storyline progression.
1. Yardley's Scheme:
This quest becomes available after completing the main story quest "Builders of a Legacy" (Chapter 3). Find Yardley in the Outfitters Test Hangar in New Los Angeles' Industrial District. He needs:
Return these items to Yardley to complete the quest.
2. House of Cards:
This quest unlocks after completing "Ma-non Maneuvers" (Chapter 5). You'll likely be around level 20-23 at this point. Go to the mission control terminal in New Los Angeles, where Yardley needs a keycard.
Use your Follow Ball to locate the orange-colored keycard (a quest item) in the area. Then, go to the Commercial District in the afternoon to give Yardley the keycard.
Finally, change the in-game time to night and find Yardley at the bottom level of the Administrative District. Completing "House of Cards" unlocks a terminal to change your appearance, complete with fast travel! Remember, you can only access this terminal at night.
Now you can refine your hero's look to your satisfaction! Remember to adjust the in-game time to night to access the appearance change terminal.
