In Mudborne, your journey will inevitably lead you to encounter algae, vast blooms obstructing your path. This is especially noticeable in the Spawning Pools and, significantly, the Kindergarten map.
The Kindergarten map presents a significant algae problem. Here, you'll meet Ribbert, a helpful mushroom-headed frog. Ribbert will trade you Filters in exchange for Flat Stinkhorns and Waterproof Coatings – essential tools for clearing the algae.
Using Filters to Clear Algae
Clearing algae is crucial, particularly for progressing through the "A Bite to Eat" chapter of the Compendium. Ribbert offers three Filters for two Flat Stinkhorns and three Waterproof Coatings.
However, Filters require a frog with high Edacity (appetite) to operate effectively. The Furious Lurker, with maxed Umbrage and Edacity, is an ideal choice.
Place a Filter in the center of a large algae patch, ensuring a 5x5 grid is clear for your frog to move within.
Place your high-Edacity frog into the Filter. Watch as it consumes the algae, opening up new pathways. Once finished, retrieve the Filter and your frog using a hammer. These hungry frogs are always ready for more!
