Make your mark! DeepSeek jumps to second place in the global AI application rankings

Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) The latest list of the top 100 global generative AI applications in 2025, China's AI technology strength performed well. Among them, DeepSeek's web version application ranks second, second only to ChatGPT, and its rapid rise has attracted much attention.

The list covers 50 web applications and 50 mobile applications. DeepSeek quickly ranked among the top web applications in less than two months, which is impressive. ByteDance's Doubao is also ranked tenth among web applications.

In addition to DeepSeek and Doubao, Chinese AI applications such as Dark Side of Moon (11th), Conch Video (12th), and Kuaishou Keling (20th), have also surpassed internationally renowned applications such as Sora, Midjourney, and Runway, and have successfully made it on the list.

In terms of mobile application list, ChatGPT still ranks first, but Chinese AI applications such as Baidu AI Search (4th place), Quark AI (6th place) and Doubao (7th place) are closely behind, showing strong development momentum. DeepSeek mobile app ranks 14th, mainly limited by download bans in some countries (such as the United States, India and Australia).

After DeepSeek opened the R1 model at the end of January this year, it quickly gained global attention and the number of users increased exponentially. It is reported that DeepSeek exceeded one million users within 14 days and ten million users within 20 days, with a growth rate far exceeding ChatGPT.

DeepSeek's mobile user participation also once led the way, second only to ChatGPT. Sensor Tower data shows that DeepSeek users have slightly higher average weekly sessions and usage time on mobile devices than Perplexity and Claude users. However, due to policy reasons, the ban in some areas has caused a decline in the number of users.
