In Monster Hunter Wilds, a handful of side quests focus on capturing smaller creatures, not just monsters. This guide focuses on the "Flash Course" quest, requiring you to capture a Flashfly.

Starting the Flash Course Quest

The Flash Course quest is your Palico's second assignment, following the "Healing Help" quest (requiring a Vigorwasp capture). After completing the first quest, speak to your Palico at any base camp (usually near the tent) to begin.

Finding and Capturing Flashflies

While Flashflies appear throughout the map, a convenient location is southeast of the Windward Plains base camp exit. This area offers easy access to a Flashfly group with minimal danger. Alternatively, mark them on your map for easier navigation.

To capture them, equip the Capture Net from your Slinger's Essential Items wheel. Aim and fire the net like any other Slinger ammo.

After successfully capturing a Flashfly, return to your Palico at the base camp to complete the quest. This unlocks the Palico's Flashfly Cage ability and opens up the next quest.
