Mastering resource gathering is crucial in Hades 2, rivaling combat prowess in importance. Exploring the game world and utilizing your tools to collect valuable resources is key to crafting incantations, upgrading arcana cards, and unlocking powerful new weapons and tools for Melinoe.

Hades 2: Complete Gardening Guide

Melinoe cultivates a garden at the Crossroads, planting seeds that yield essential ingredients for spellcasting and upgrades.

Hades 2 is currently in Early Access, so the following details are subject to change.

*Updated March 8, 2025 by Alexis Campbell**: Revised seed acquisition methods. Included updates from Olympus and War Song patches, encompassing new garden customization options and seed types.*

Unlocking Soil Plots

Hades 2: Complete Gardening Guide

To utilize the garden, Melinoe must first unlock Soil Plots using incantations:

Incantation Recipe
Flourishing Soil 1 Moly
Rich Soil 3 Lotus
Verdant Soil 1 Wheat, 1 Garlic

Moly and Lotus are Flora resources found in Erebus and Oceanus, respectively. Their spawn rate increases with the late-game familiar, Gale. Wheat and Garlic must be grown in your garden. Each incantation unlocks two additional Soil Plots, for a total of six.

If these incantations are unavailable, continue playing and interact with every character displaying an exclamation mark – particularly Odysseus and Hecate.

Garden Decoration

Dora, located south of the cauldron, offers Garden Decorations in exchange for Prestige. These purely cosmetic items (such as a Well and Gardening Tools) do not affect plot availability, plant growth times, or yields.

Acquiring Seeds

Hades 2: Complete Gardening Guide

Seed acquisition requires the Silver Spade. Seeds are obtained by:

  • Digging up soil patches
  • Interacting with NPCs
  • Purchasing from Chaos Wells or Shrines of Hermes
  • Utilizing Demeter's Plentiful Forage Boon
  • Harvesting existing plants (low-to-medium chance)
